Acker Mini Mansion

It was the nickname of the last home of Forrest J Ackerman.  He was the founder and editor of Famous Monsters of Filmland, a writer, literary agent and actor.  Try this bio and search for more: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Forrest_J_Ackerman.

He had the most extensive collection of sci-fi/horror movie memorabilia, at around 400,000 pieces.

There had been two previous homes called the Ackermansion and Son of Ackermansion.

Uncle 4E lived his last 6 years at the Minimansion, with a greatly reduced collection.  He still maintained tours, free of charge as done previously

His inspiration and influence were widespread and many in showbiz in all facets were personally encouraged by him.  Including me.

His wordplay was legendary.  The last one that he mentioned to me was Baby-lon 5 or Lon Chaney the early years lol.

So inspiring but his last home reduced to either a parking lot or minimall?  Geez there would hardly be room for any zombies lol.

On Thursday morning, November 17, 2016 the corner of Franklin and Vermont Avenues, in the heart of the neighborhood "Uncle Forry" lived in for 30 years, was christened Forrest J Ackerman Square.

Most of all he lives in our hearts and minds and inspires u as we pass it along.

I know 'things' come and go.  The farm/estate of my GreatAunt May and GreatUncle Emmett is gone.  It encompassed an area now rife with a housing addition and two strip malls.  The last of it, their house and garage, have finally disappeared.

I miss the mahogany basement bar and all the flowers outside.  One could target shoot in the back yard in the day.

We come and go.

What remains is passed down such as Freedom and the drive and creativity that propels us forward.
