Lies told often enough can seem to become the truth. Josef G was right about that. Either collectively or individually, the world gets upside down.
Bearing false witness plays a major part.
Frequently such lies involve projection.
I want to deal mostly with the personal. Many of us are familiar with the broader aspect of political brainwashing. We wend down the well worn road of commie tactics which bend and make green blue/orange.
Personally, very personally, conditioning intensifies. The heat is on.
And back to projection.
Say, a stepfather is child raping a daughter. He manipulates her mind and the barely there bovine mother.
He needs a scapegoat. And the perfect one is the absentee noncustodial father. To his detriment, staying away is a bad way to go. More presence would have demolished the stepfather's machination.
If applied steadily and villainizing continues, the stepdad projects his crimes on the real Dad. Said Dad is unaware of this manipulation, not thinking anyone would stoop so low and of course stepdad hid his crimes.
Eventually Dad suspects something. He has managed to establish communication with his daughter. It was slowly building til stepdad finds out and puts the kabosh on it. Him, not the mother.
More inroads continue with the support of Dad's current wife. And Dad's lawyer who actively legally defended Dad's interest and the interest of a healthy relationship for the daughter.
The stepdad was aided and abetted by the mother's family, eager to revenge against the Dad. Ungainly and illogical, they believed the lies.
Until the mother divorced the stepdad. Why? It's posited she had had enough and like a stopped clock was right this time.
However, the fix was in and the damage done.
As Dad's counsel observed, the daughter had been turned.
It's like an infection which, when truth is applied, evinces a diseased reaction, replete with pain and fever.
Is there an outcome?
As with much of life, there is no clean cut denouement.
It may sit where it is/was or progress to a realization of all the pain of yesterday in bitter resolution.
Such damage is insidious.
It must be dealt with truth and love and concern, not some 'gotcha' revenge.
Even adult kids deserve such truth and love.
The above is partial supposition based on a factual case.
All hopes for healing and truth are intended.
