Acker Mini Mansion

It was the nickname of the last home of Forrest J Ackerman.  He was the founder and editor of Famous Monsters of Filmland, a writer, literary agent and actor.  Try this bio and search for more: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Forrest_J_Ackerman.

He had the most extensive collection of sci-fi/horror movie memorabilia, at around 400,000 pieces.

There had been two previous homes called the Ackermansion and Son of Ackermansion.

Uncle 4E lived his last 6 years at the Minimansion, with a greatly reduced collection.  He still maintained tours, free of charge as done previously

His inspiration and influence were widespread and many in showbiz in all facets were personally encouraged by him.  Including me.

His wordplay was legendary.  The last one that he mentioned to me was Baby-lon 5 or Lon Chaney the early years lol.

So inspiring but his last home reduced to either a parking lot or minimall?  Geez there would hardly be room for any zombies lol.

On Thursday morning, November 17, 2016 the corner of Franklin and Vermont Avenues, in the heart of the neighborhood "Uncle Forry" lived in for 30 years, was christened Forrest J Ackerman Square.

Most of all he lives in our hearts and minds and inspires u as we pass it along.

I know 'things' come and go.  The farm/estate of my GreatAunt May and GreatUncle Emmett is gone.  It encompassed an area now rife with a housing addition and two strip malls.  The last of it, their house and garage, have finally disappeared.

I miss the mahogany basement bar and all the flowers outside.  One could target shoot in the back yard in the day.

We come and go.

What remains is passed down such as Freedom and the drive and creativity that propels us forward.

John And Martha

Title reminds me of the old voiceover comedy routine of John and Marsha.  Through speaking, they convey a variety of emotion such as love, doubt, fear, happiness.  Look for it.  It's worth a laugh.

John is John Dorie and Martha is known as 'the filthy woman' on Fear the Walking Dead, a spinoff of the popular The Walking Dead tv show.

I'm not going to critique the show.  If you like, watch it for yourselves.  But the two characters interest me.

John Dorie happened to be a cop.  He had already withdrawn to a remote cabin before the apocalypse.  He was dealing with guilt concerning someone he killed in the line of duty.

I don't think he was prepared for it, even though it was a perp.  Certainly it placed him where he was at the start.

John is very self sufficient.  He is used to camping, hunting, fishing etc.  He has access to water and a generator.  Except for the occasional undead visitor, it's a quiet life.  He can defend himself.

He also has a heart.  He is willing to help others and nurses a woman back to health

Martha was an English teacher.  She and her husband attempted to flee a city at the start.  A panicking driver causes them to collide and impales him, totaling the car.  They are stuck on the road with him slowly dying.

Both are quite intelligent and devoted to each other.  They are academic and have little survival skill.

She repeatedly tries to flag down other evacuees to no avail.  Martha is left to watch her hubby die and turn.  Then she repeatedly mutters that someone will stop and help.

Somehow she gets the body out after dispatching him and buries it.  She cries and stays at the grave, sleeping.  The filthy comes from the fact that she never bathed after this.

Her mind snaps and she gets revenge for no one helping by killing folks and thus zombifying them.

She blames them for her lack of self help and is particularly antagonistic to those who help others.

Now, their professions might not have a thing to do with who they are.  I know good hearted self sufficient teachers and cops who are just the opposite as well as the counter opposite to that.

Different contents of character.

In one, faith is lived.  In the other it's more like a salve or bandaid.

When crisis occurs, one survives and the other dies.

Taking care of yourself thus being able to take care of others.

Up to you.

Oaths Rising

It's always so.  But there is a current tide in the affairs of people and it's surely rising.

'The choice of all men, to endure oppression, or to resist', as presented in the prologue to The Alamo 1960, is profound and always true.

An oath taken is lifelong.  It cannot be revoked.  It can be betrayed or suborned.  It can even be dormant.  But, it is lifelong.  You may end whatever kind of service you were sworn to uphold; the oath colors your life.

There have always been threats to the Republic.  People have dealt with them in several ways.  Sometimes as a light rain, others as a storm.  And there are occasionally the ensuing floods.  I don't mean a little standing water in your basement.  It is a raging torrent, sweeping objects away or obliterating/covering them.

The threat has never been worse.  Perhaps just as dire, but never as full swung.  The machinations of the varying 'flavors' or odors, of collectivists are full blown and unrelenting.  One can easily imagine if we were totally disarmed how complete their tyranny would be.

So there is a call to patriotism.  Oaths are rising with varying degrees of  intensity and necessity.

New oath takers are coming along for much more than a ride, given by those countless predecessors.

You must decide where your watermark is etched.

April Foolish

The drama has played out.  No collusion.

Yet the collectivists, against all odds cling to delusion.  After all, that's the total of their makeup.  Steeped in lies and half truth, they have no alternative but descend.

Remember, there are useful idiots, true believers, string pullers and those who dwell in shadowy background.  All collectivist.  No wonder they hate the President.

He/us are working to Restore the Republic  The are seeking to install worldwide collectivism.

They prefer to have subjects who want to be told what to do.  We encourage individualism and the gathering of like minds, who don't always agree.

Lies are piling up and fools rush in, while fear ensnares them.

Perhaps the folly needed to go the limit.  It shows the perfidy of collectivism.  And just how squirmy/wormy enemies of Freedom are.  Truth shines on something and sure enough, it is rewritten to aim for our destruction.

One can be foolish and have, for instance, a poster of a beach.  It is either a goal to obtain aka vacation or enough money to travel, or it is just a dreamy pic, an 'if only' to comfort within imprisonment.  People fool themselves.

Obstruction has either been achieved or not.  For a time it's dragged us along.  All of the negativity has been exposed.  We have a choice.  We live in fear or we do not.  That is the secret which is not a secret.

We are foolish if we let fear control us.  We are wise to face fear and be free.

My Mom used to say, ''April Fool is past, and you're the biggest fool at last''.

Or not.

Clarence

Clarence had a homemade pizza shop in the 20 odd hundred block of Meridian Street in the 50s.  He and his brother Meo had the busiest shops in town.

I don't remember if they were former Italian POWs.  There was a camp in Indianapolis.  The Italians would come into downtown, visit music stores and return to the camp.  When it came time to repatriate, some stayed and became citizens.

Indianapolis has been a melting pot for many naturalized citizens.  Among restaurants, there were Chinese, Italian and even a Holland Pastry Shop.  They were all folks who came here to be Americans.  And the list grew over the years.

I used to stand outside Clarence's.  He had a huge front display window. I watched him knead the dough and flatten it. Then he would twirl it to widen it and he tossed it in the air!  He always had a wide smile on his face and loved to entertain his customers.  His food making was truly an art.

Now of course there are smaller places currently, some homemade such as Fast Wok or Acapulco Joe's  where the food is native and shared in true American style.

There is a lack of getting to know people, yet my family always chats with the owners and workers and the mood is pleasant.

I'm not sad about time rolling on, just nostalgic.  Good memories I've shared with the family.
I'm encouraged the last couple of years that small business is increasing.  The personal touch is not completely lost.

And to be reminded of humanity right now as always, is important.  It is the basis for victory.

Infinity...

Endless.  It can mean the unexplainable except for a term to define it.  Timeless.

Ever wonder how God could be forever?  I used to think on that as a kid and get dizzy as a result.  Think is the operative word.  We need more, all of us.

Infinity is a philosophical concept, as well as a psychological and mathematical one.  It was interestingly the mathematical that got me going here.

I was researching the language of mathematics and noted the parallels between that and languages in general.  It led me to consider the intricacies involved and how some are flummoxed by it all.

Depends on the teacher.  A good/great one can show what's going on then leave it to the student to seek.  Same for math as well as any subject.

On the contrary, a teacher who understands but cannot communicate, leaves students floundering.

I've experienced both and have either suffered or risen accordingly.

I don't always recommend Wikipedia.  They are leftist/twonky for people/politics.  But math facts not bad.  There is still a plethora of info out there beyond them.  Go for it.

Don't confuse Moebius strips with infinity though there are similarities.  Seek and you shall find.

Think.  For oneself.  Regardless the subject.

Don't be intimidated.  Good tutors/teachers are worth their weight in gold.

OTOH I've always found seeking for myself the way to go.  And again that's what the best teachers inspire.

I'm reminded of Planet of the Apes, the novel.  One of the scientists/astronauts reverted to a bestial screeching primitive.  When approached by the protagonist he retreated and hid among the herd.

Learning is commitment.  It is conviction.  It is risk.

Forever...

Boys And Girls

In my travels, in my studies, there is one conclusion.  Male and female are the constant in the universe.  Both psychological and spiritual studies have indicated this to me.

Male and female counter and compliment each other.  There are differences, yet we are all human.  It is collectivism which dehumanizes and confuses.  They don't want people to realize potential and embrace content of character.

They especially mix up sexuality.  That's where we find variations.  Don't want to get into all that.  Not afraid, just so much already said.  The most egregious thing is pushing kids to sexualize.  That is a ploy of child rapists, to excuse their evil.

Of course, children are curious.  When the kids were little we explained about moms and dads, about attraction and kept it simple.

Males tend to be more external and women internal.  Yet we learn from one another and realize a crisscross.  As for territory, both deal with it as a result of the former.

Modern times have opened us concerning roles .

For instance, my GreatGrandmother was a suffragette and a business woman as well as wife and mother.  I learned to think things through with her.

I learned to cook from my Mom and hunt from my brother.  My Dad taught content of character.

There is a lot of overlap.

We shared parenting and for a while I was home as my wife worked outside the house.  For work, besides raising the kids, I concentrated on writing.

Physically males have some estrogen and females have some testosterone.  Sometimes there is overbalance.  There are also some who evidence opposite characteristics.

Women are nurturers and men protectors.  But I tell you those really overlap!

Confusing?  Maybe or not really.  Some things are figured out on the way

There is nothing toxic except abuse and there we run into obsession.  Fear is the key.  And the fact, as I see it, evil.  I've discussed the spiritual and as it evidences outwardly and will again.

Men upper body strength women lower.  As for pain, well there are different kinds, some shared some not.

As for sexuality, well that's a matter covered seemingly everywhere.  Nature/nurture, wiring/conditioning=probably both.

What we must beware is the confusion egged on by collectivists.  Gov/politicizing sex is just wrong.  They want to control everything and they cannot, for the HUMAN drive is to be free.  Both for boys and girls.

So boys and girls, I offer as usual a palette for a portrait.

And that there is mystery involving boys and girls.
